All the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XC Leaks and Rumors

Last week, Apple sent out invites for its iPhone launch event which will be held on September 12 inside Apple Park. While the new iPhones haven’t leaked nearly as much as last year’s iPhone X, or this year’s Pixel 3 (which may well all be staged leaks by Google), there have been a bunch of leaks nevertheless. So, here’s everything we know, expect, and hope to see in the new iPhones.

The Models

We already know that Apple is going to unveil three models this year thanks to a really detailed report fromBloomberg. The report mentions that the three iPhones will come in different screen sizes.

There will be a5.8-inch OLED iPhonethat will be more or less a direct successor to the current gen iPhone X. This model is likely to be called the iPhone XS.

There will a6.1-inch LCD iPhonethat is expected to be a more affordable iPhone that Apple hopes will help with sales in countries like India. This is the phone that’s most mysterious of the three, and it’s still not clear what it’s name will be. The rumours point to an iPhone XC, but it could also be iPhone 9.

Lastly, there will be a massive6.5-inch OLEDiPhone that will be the most expensive of the three. The name for the largest phone is likely to be iPhone XS Max.

The Pricing

According to the same Bloomberg report (and other reports thereafter) the Apple is expected to aggressively lower the prices on at least one iPhone this year.

The5.8-inch iPhone is expected to be priced starting at $799— similar to the iPhone 8 Plus from last year.

The6.1-inch LCD iPhone is expected to be priced at $699— similar to the iPhone 8 from last year.

The6.5-inch iPhone is expected to be priced at $999— similar to the iPhone X from last year.

However,more reportshave since come out, and in light of Trump’s proposed tariffs on China,Apple has also warnedthat its devices might be more expensive this time around.

The Names

Thanks to two separate reports from9to5Mac, andBGR, we also have the expected naming for at least the two premium, OLED packing iPhones for the year. The reports mention that the5.8-inch OLED iPhone will be called the iPhone XS, and the gigantic6.5-inch OLED iPhone will be called the iPhone XS Max.

The reports mention that Apple is doing away with its ‘Plus’ branding for bigger iPhones for the new ‘Max’ branding this time around.

The 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, on the other hand, is still up in the air when it comes to naming, butit could very well be named the iPhone XC, while some not-so-trustworthy reports have come out claiming that it’ll becalled the iPhone XI— that sounds silly because calling it iPhone XI will inherently make it sound like a better version of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, and Apple wouldn’t want that.

The Colors

There have also been rumors and leaks about the LCD iPhone getting more colors than usual this year. While the more expensive, OLED packing iPhones will no doubt retain the classic space gray and silver colors, along witha new gold colorthis time (it seems), the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone is expected to be launched in a number of different colors. We have already seen leaks of the more affordable iPhone XC inwhite, blue, red, and goldcolors.

We also have a concept render (thanks toBenjamin Geskin) of the iPhone XS in the gold color that may well be what Apple shows off on stage.

Three New iPhones This Year: Excited?

Those were all the rumors and leaks surrounding the new iPhones that Apple is set to launch this Wednesday. Personally, while I’m not a fan of the huge notch on the iPhones, I’m still excited to see exactly what these new phones bring to the table, and at what price.
