Apple iPhone XR Starting Price of Rs 76,900 in India Makes Little Sense
Alongside theiPhone XSandXS Max, Apple also unveiled the much-awaitediPhone XR(whose name was leaked prior to the launch event) that brings up the rear in the new iPhone lineup.
Price and Availability
As per Apple’s official press release, the iPhone XR, which we expected to be affordable, has beenpriced starting at Rs 76,900. This is yet another example of the Apple’s bonkers pricing; the $749 price tag announced on stage comes up to around Rs 53,900, when converted, but the actual price is almost 50 percent more. To compare, the iPhone X is still available in India for around Rs 85,000.
The iPhone XR will be up forpre-order in India on October 19 next month, alongside 50 other countries and territories, and willstart shipping from October 26.
iPhone XR: Key Specs
Coming to the specs, theiPhone XR sports a 6.1-inch “Liquid Retina” LCD display, with huge black bezels, that sits inside a 7-Series aluminum body.It does look stunning and is on par with the higher-end flagships launched today.
The device is powered by the latest A12 Bionic chipset (not just any old processor, like the ones included on the budget iPhone SE). The chipset comes with six CPU cores, a quad-core GPU and is built on Fusion architecture under a 7nm process.
In contrast to the dual rear-camera setup on the iPhone XS series, theiPhone XR comes with a single 12MP rear camera. This is the same sensor as the main rear camera on the iPhone XS and XS Max. There’s also the same7MP selfie cameraon board, with the bokeh mode and AI features intact. Looks like Apple is towing Google’s line on adding AI features to a single camera lens.
The device comes withdual SIM capabilities, wireless charging, and a whole lot more. iPhone XRuses LTE Advanced and introduces Dual SIM through the use of a nano-SIM and digital eSIM.
Here’s a quick look at the specs of the iPhone XS Max:
The iPhone XR will be available in six different color variants, namely white, black, blue, yellow, coral, and even a PRODUCT(RED) one. So, are you looking forward to purchase iPhone XR or does last year’s iPhone X still look like an attractive deal? Let us know in comments down below.
