Apple Upgrades MacBook Air with 8th Gen Intel CPUs, Retina Display, Touch ID; Starts at $1,199

“People love the Mac,”said Tim Cook on stage as he began talking about the new Mac line up. And the first product we got to see today was the new MacBook Air complete with the Retina Display, Touch ID, and a whole lot more.

Right off the bat, you’ll see that the new MacBook Pro laptops have a slightly new design. Gone are the massive bezels around the display, and the age old-processors, as the new MacBook Air has slim bezels and 8th generation Intel Core processors.

The base variant of the MacBook Air with 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD is priced at $1,199 and it goes on sale in the US starting November 7. Gadgets360reportsthatthe MacBook Air will be priced at Rs 1,14,900 in Indiaand will be available from November 7, though Apple has yet to confirm this.

Anyway, here’s what the new MacBook Air (2018) looks like:

The new MacBook Air comes inthree new pretty colorsand it weighs just2.75 pounds, making it much more compact.

The new MacBook Air laptops have an upgraded 13.3-inch Retina display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. This is indeed a significant upgrade considering the fact that older MacBook Air had a dated display and look.

It also has the butterfly switch keyboards with individually lit buttons. There’s also a Force Touch trackpad, which Apple claims is 20-percent larger than the one on the current MacBook Air model.

Internally, the new MacBook Air is powered by 8th generation Intel Core processors and can be configured with up to 16GB of RAM, up to a 1.5TB SSD. As wepredicted, Apple has opted to add two USB Type-C ports and Touch ID for secure login. The base variant of the MacBook Air with 8GB RAM and 128GB SSD is priced at $1,199, with the higher-end version going up to $1,399.
