Existing Mi TV Pro Models in India to Get Netflix by December

A day afterlaunching a bunch of new Mi TV modelsin India, Xiaomi has announced plans to roll out Android TV 9.0 to all its existing Mi TV Pro devices in the country, including the Mi TV 4A Pro 32, 43 & 49, Mi TV 4C Pro 32 and Mi TV 4 Pro 55. According to Xiaomi India MD, Manu Kumar Jain(@manukumarjain), the update will start rolling out before the end of this year and, will come with built-in Netflix and Amazon Prime Video apps.

Xiaomi hadearlier announced plansto roll out the Android 9 pie update to itsMi TV 4A lineupthat were originally launched with Android Marshmallow-based ROMs. The company back in July said that the update process will start later this year and, even claimed it will be the first brand in the country to roll out Android Pie-based updates to its smart TV lineup. Xiaomi is already testing Android TV 9.0 with a close set of beta users and is expected to start rolling out the update to general consumers in the coming weeks.

With Mi TVs retaining their status as thenumber one smart TV brand in Indiafor five successive quarters, Xiaomi has been busy launching new models in the country every few months. Having launched the55-inch Mi TV 4X Proearlier this year, the company this week added a number of new models to its portfolio, including three new 4K models measuring 43-inch, 50-inch and 65-inch, starting at just Rs. 24,999. Xiaomi also launched the budget-centric 40-inch Mi TV 4A for Rs. 17,999.

It’s worth noting that while the existing TVs are scheduled to get Android 9 Pie in the coming weeks, the aforementioned newly-launched devices already run Android TV 9.0 out-of-the-box with Xiaomi’s custom Patchwall 2.0 UI, which brings a new light theme, a smaller carousel up-top, an all-new data-saver mode, a data counter to help track data usage, and more.
