First Poco F1 Sale Highly Successful; Generates Rs 200+ Crore in 5 Minutes

The firstPoco F1sale, which took place earlier today, happened to be unlike usual Xiaomi flash sales. It was available not just a few seconds but for more than a couple of minutes. This is not because the Poco F1 didn’t attract as much attention as we had expected but becausethe company had anticipated the high demand.

As per the information shared by Poco India, it wasable to sell devices worth Rs 200 crore (Rs 2 billion) in the first flash sale. Considering an average price of Rs 22,490 – since only 6GB variants went for sale today,Xiaomi easily sold almost 90,000 unitsof the Poco F1 which is great for the smartphone introductory sale.

Poco didn’t share exact numbers on the sale of individual variant separately but taking note of the fact that the 6GB+64GB variant went out of stock first, there isa good chance the Xiaomi off-shoot managed to sell even morePoco F1 units.

In comparison, OnePlus was able torake up sales worth Rs 100 crore(or just half) during the first sale of theOnePlus 6. If we also consider that the OnePlus 6 is at Rs 14,000 more expensive than the Poco F1, it’s safe to say that the number of units sold then was much less. However, the other face of the coin is that the OnePlus 6 is available via open sale and there’s no breakage in availability. In fact, the company had managed to sell1 million unitsof the OnePlus 6in just the first 22 days of sale.

Poco also said that thenext sale of the Poco F1 will be held on September 5. However, there was no information about whether the 8GB model will be available for sale this time or not.

The Poco F1 comes with great specifications at a super effective price but whether it is worth that wait is something we will note in our full review of the Poco F1, which will be out soon. Now, what remains to be seen is whether Poco F1 will be able to shake up the prominence that the OnePlus 6 maintains in the market.
