Leaked Moto G6 Specifications Reveal 18:9 Display, Face Unlock and Splash Resistance
The Moto G6 was recentlyspottedon Chinese regulatory authority TENAA’s website, revealing some specifications and images of the upcoming device. Now,AndroidHeadlineshas procured in-house Motorola documentation about the device which confirm most of the specifications. The documentation in question was provided toAndroidHeadlinesby a reliable source who has been kept anonymous to protect identity.
According to the documentation, the Moto G6 will feature a new 5.7-inch Full HD+ display which will be marketed as a “Max Vision” display due to its 18:9 aspect ratio. In the documentation, the company specifically highlights the display as the main selling point of the device due to its compact form factor and edge-to-edge display with“virtually no bezel”.The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and also includes support for Attentive display, which keeps the display on as long as the user is looking at it.Image courtesy: TENAA
The Moto G6 will include a“premium 3D glass back”which has been designed to reflect light differently at different angles. The device will also include a P2i nano-coating, making it splash-resistant, however, it won’t feature any IP certification for waterproofing and dust resistance. Motorola has also included a microSD card slot for expandable storage which supports up to 128GB cards.
As mentioned in the TENAA listing, theMoto G6will feature a dual-camera setup on the back, however, the documentation doesn’t list the exact configuration of the camera modules. The single front facing camera will feature a 8MP sensor and will include support for “Face Unlock”. The front camera will also include an ultra wide-angle mode. While the documentation doesn’t list the camera specifications in detail, it does elaborate on the camera features. The Moto G6 will be able to blur image backgrounds using“Selective focus”and users will also be able to swap backgrounds using the“Cutout”feature. The camera on the Moto G6 will also include support for“animated face filters”and will make use ofAI for landmark and object recognition, document scanning, and real-time translation.
TheMoto G6will be powered by a 3,000mAh battery which Motorola claims will last“a full day”and support Motorola’s TurboPower technology for fast charging.AndroidHeadlineshas also confirmed that the Moto G6 will include aQualcommSnapdragon 450 SoC (clocked at 1.8GHZ) along with an Adreno 506 GPU. Software wise, the device won’t be much different fromother Motorola devicesand will come with the usual slew of Motorola apps on top of near-stock Android. The documentation doesn’t reveal details about pricing and availability, but Motorola is expected to reveal more information next month.
