LG’s New Q Stylus is a Mid-Range Galaxy Note Alternative

Late last month, LG lifted the covers off theLG Q7; a mid-range device which borrows a few features from the company’s own flagship G-series. Adding on to the Q Series, the company has nowunveiledthe LG Q Stylus, which looks to be a mid-range alternative to Samsung’s popular Galaxy Note lineup of devices.

As the name suggests, the LG Q Stylus comes with a stylus and features handwritten input support which, according to the company, is“more productive and expressive than typing”. Since the only other mainstream smartphone still rocking a stylus is a flagship device, we believe that the LG Q Stylus will target people who may want a phone with a pen, without spending the extra cash.

In terms of specifications, the LG Q Stylus includes a 6.2-inch FHD+ FullVision Display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The device will be powered by either a 1.5GHz Octa-Core or 1.8GHz Octa-Core processor, depending on the region, and will be available in three variants: the Q Stylus Plus, the regular Q Stylus, and the Q Stylus Alpha. Here’s a quick look at the specifications of the LG Q Stylus variants:

At the top end, the Q Stylus Plus will feature 4GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage which can be expanded up to 2TB using a microSD card. For imaging, the high-end variant will include a single 16MP camera on the back with PDAF, along with an 8MP or 5MP super wide angle camera on the front, also depending on the region.

The regular Q Stylus will feature 3GB RAM and 32GB of onboard storage which can also be expanded up to 2TB. While for imaging, the Q Stylus will feature the same setup as the Q Stylus Plus. The base variant – Q Stylus Alpha – will come with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage, along with a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP super wide-angle front camera.

All three devices will feature the same 3,300mAh battery and will run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. While the Q Stylus Plus will be available in three color variants, namely Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue, and Lavender Violet, the regular Q Stylus will just be available in Aurora Black and Moroccan Blue, and the Q Stylus Alpha will only be available in Moroccan Blue.

As of now, LG has not revealed any information about the pricing of the new Q Stylus lineup. The devices are expected to launch in North America and Asia this month, followed by other key regions in the third quarter of 2018.
