Mi Band 4 with Color AMOLED Display, Music Controls Launched in India for Rs 2,299
Well, the day we had all been waiting for with bated breath is finally here. At its Smarter Living 2020 event in Bengaluru, Xiaomi today launched the Mi Band 4 in India. The new fitness tracker from Xiaomi brings a number of firsts including a colored AMOLED display, music controls, and of course, improved activity tracking.
Features and Specs
We know everything about the new Mi Band 4 (which is advertised as Mi Smart Band 4 in India) as it wasfirst unveiledin China back in June earlier this year. It carries forward the same design and aesthetics as itspredecessorbut embraces the much-requested change – a color display. Mi Band 4 includes acolor 0.95-inch AMOLED touchscreenwith scratch-resistant 2.5D glass protection on top. There’s also a 135mAh battery in tow that Xiaomi claims offers up to 20 days of battery back up.
The next thing that you will notice is that thehome button indent is goneand is now replaced with a flat touch button below the display. The color display gives Xiaomi fans a chance to pick some creative watch faces (with 40 available by default through the Mi Fit app) and even use photos from their gallery as watch faces. There’s a heart rate sensor, which will come in handy for heart rate and sleep tracking.
Mi Band 4 is baked with anewer 6-axis high precision sensorto be able to recognize and track more complex motions. It’s capable of recognizing six major activities and this means you can now track swimming as well. Mi Band 4 is alsowaterproof up to 5ATM and 50-meters, which is great for divers. You can also control music using the Mi Band and silence calls (apart from declining them) as well.
As Rupeshpreviously pointed, the global variant of the Mi Band 4 didn’t come with an AI assistant (Xiao AI used in China) and NFC support. And well, that holds true for India too. We would have loved to see voice assistant support on Xiaomi’s fitness tracker, but alas it isn’t a reality this time around. There are pogo pins for charging at the bottom now but a magnetic charger isn’t what you get.
At this price point, the Mi Band 4 squarely competes against the Honor Band 5. We have already listed all the differences between these two fitness trackersright here. Also, you can check out our comparison video on YouTube:
Price and Availability
TheMi Band 4 has been priced at Rs 2,299and well, the price bump is justified with the slew of new features that Xiaomi has baked into its new fitness band. It goes on sale starting from 19th September at 12 noon on Mi.com and Amazon India.
But, if you are someone who isn’t big on a color display and only needs fitness tracking, well, you could still get the Mi Band 3 for Rs 1,999 in India. What is your opinion on Mi Band 4? Do let us know in the comments below.
