Realme X Indian Variant Might Not Come with Snapdragon 730 After All

Realme X is scheduled to make itsmuch-anticipated India debuton July 15. This device was first launched in China with some impressive specs, including an AMOLED display, a pop-up selfie camera, an-display fingerprint scanner, and even a 48MP rear snapper. However, the Realme X in China is powered by the Snapdragon 710 SoC, which comes in the company’s lower-pricedRealme 3 Proin India. And that’s where all the debate begins?

Indian consumers have started to become tech aware and many of them know that the Snapdragon 710 is a year-old chipset whereas the Snapdragon 675 or Snapdragon 730 chipset is relatively new. Well, the Realme X launch in China saw Indian fans asking the obvious question – Why pick an older chipset that you already have in a budget phone?

Well, Realme CEO Madhav Sheth addressed the same back in May with a tweet, which stated,“Realme X may not necessarily launch at the same specs in India.”This gave a number of fans hope andsparked rumors that the Realme X may come in tow with the Snapdragon 730 chipset.

Well, it seems like we have been hoping for too much as a fresh leak from tipster Ishan Agarwal says that theRealme X Indian variant will come with a Snapdragon 710 chipset– similar to what we’ve seen on the Chinese variant.

This does come as a bit of surprise, because the Realme X might have a new AMOLED display, a bezel-less design with pop-up cameras but without a chipset bump, it will not be a huge upgrade over the Realme 3 Pro.

First one is realme X that will launch with Snapdragon 710 in India and the second one will be a lesser-specced/lite version of the realme 3 (I don’t know the exact name yet). Also, the Redmi K20 with Snapdragon 730 chipset (which we recently benchmarked)is all set to launch in India at a similar price to the Realme X, and we all know that the 730 is a better processor than the 710.

While Ishan’s leaks and tips have been quite accurate, we suggest you take this with a pinch of salt and we can expect Realme to pull a fast one on us. If not, then it would be a lost opportunity for the Chinese giant who’s been trying to follow in the footsteps of Xiaomi. Here’s a quick Realme X hands-on from our trip to China:

In addition, the leak talks about a second lower-specced variant of the Realme 3 (which competes with theRedmi Y3 and Redmi 7in the sub-Rs 10,000 price segment) that you can read about in the tweet above. Realme already has the Realme C2 in the entry-level segment to compete against the Redmi 7A, however, we can expect the company to now come for Redmi 7 or Redmi Y3 in the Rs 6,000-Rs 8,000 price segment as well.
