Redmi 6, Redmi 6A Expected To Launch in India Later in September

Xioami has been on a roll in 2018, launching one device after another. The Chinese giant had recently launched theRedmi 6 and Redmi 6Asmartphones in its home country earlier last month. And now, the rumor mill suggests they are expected to debut in India later in September.

Both of these budget phones come with MediaTek chipsets, which have now been adopted by Xiaomi after a lengthy hiatus. This was, however, one of the key reasons we were uncertain of the launch of the Redmi 6 series in India, but the company hasalready settledthe lawsuit that barred the same. This indicates Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A will launch in India in September,as per 91Mobile’s sources.

Redmi 6

An upgrade to the ultra-affordable and popular Redmi 5, which launched earlier this year, the Redmi 6 features a 5.45-inch HD+ (720 × 1440pixels) display. It’spowered by the MediaTek Helio P22 chipset, along with 2 different RAM+storage combos – 3GB/ 4GB RAM and 32GB/ 64GB of on-board storage.

On the optics front, thedevice brings along a 12MP+5MP rear-facing dual-camera setup, along with a 5MP camera for selfiesand video chats. It also boasts of several AI-enabled features that Xiaomi states will help capture enhanced images. There’s also a 3,000mAh battery and rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on board.

Redmi 6A

The Redmi 6A also features a 5.45-inch HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Unlike the Redmi 6, though, the Redmi 6A ispowered by a MediaTek Helio A22 SoC and comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage.

In the optics department, the device boasts a single 13MP camera on the rear and a 5MP camera on the front for selfies and video calling. All other specs and features remain the same as the Redmi 6, which also feature AI Face Unlock.

Price And Availability

We have no word on the Indian launch and pricing of the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A just yet, so we can only make a calculated guess based on the Chinese retail prices.Redmi 6 has been priced starting at 799 yuan (approx.
