Samsung’s First Android Go Phone Is the Exynos 7570-Powered Galaxy J2 Core
An Android Go-powered Samsung smartphone was spotted onGeekbenchback in May and a month later, hands-on images of the device and itskey specswere leaked. Samsung has now officially unveiled theGalaxy J2 Core, an entry-level smartphone which is Samsung’s first Android Go device. The Galaxy J2 Core boots Android Go based on Android 8.1 Oreo and comes with ‘Go’ edition of optimized Google apps such as Assistant Go, Gmail Go, Maps Go, and YouTube Go among others.
As per Samsung’s press release, the Galaxy J2 Core will beavailable in Malaysia and India starting August 24th, 2018 and will hit the shelves in other countries at a later date, however, Samsung has not revealed the pricing of the smartphone.
As for the specs, the Galaxy J2 Core features a 5-inch qHD display (540 x 960) display encased in a polycarbonate body with a gold paint job. The device is powered by anExynos 7570 SoC,coupled with1GB of RAMand8GB of internal storage. There is a2,600mAh batterywhich is claimed to give a full day of usage, thanks to optimized Go edition apps which are less resource intensive.
The Galaxy J2 Core packs an8MP rear camerawith f/2.2 aperture and an8MP front camerawith the same aperture. Samsung claims that both the cameras offer features such as wide-angle photography and beauty mode for capturing higher quality images. The Android Go-powered smartphone also comes pre-loaded with Samsung’s Optimised Data Control feature to manage data consumption.
