WhatsApp Starts Testing Quick Media Editing in iOS Beta
WhatsApp has today released a new beta update for its iOS app that brings along a bunch of changes and features to the iOS app.
Most importantly, the new update removes the ability to save WhatsApp profile pictures in the app — something that has been removed from the Android app already. Apart from that, the update has also enabled the Quick Media Editing feature for testers.
With Quick Media Editing, WhatsApp will now let iOS beta users quickly annotate media files before forwarding them. It’s noteworthy that this feature is not the same as the already existing media annotation options that come up when you select an image from the gallery on your phone, or take a picture using the WhatsApp camera.
Rather more interesting, is WABetaInfo’s claim that WhatsApp is working on a multi-platform system that will allow users to run the same account across multiple platforms simultaneously. This should prove very useful for people who are looking to use their WhatsApp accounts on their iPad (once the iPad app is available).
Moreover, the new multi-platform system will allow users to use WhatsApp on their computers without having to go through the hassle of pairing WhatsApp Web with their phones by scanning QR codes. WABetaInfo claims that the feature is under development, and did not give any expected time-frame for its arrival to the beta or the stable channels of the app, so even if it’s true, we’ll have to wait a considerable amount of time before any such thing is made possible by the developers at WhatsApp.
